31. Praise for Nandhi

Verse 31

பிதற்றுகின் றேன்என்றும் பேர்நந்தி தன்னை
இயற்றுவன் நெஞ்சத் திரவும் பகலும்
உயற்றுவன் ஓங்கொளி வண்ணன்எம் மானை
இயற்றிகழ் சோதி இறைவனும் ஆமே.

Translation:

I am blabbering on all days, the name, Nandi

I will compose in the heart, night and day,

I will praise, the one with the hue of supreme light, my lord

The effulgence, the lord. 

Commentary: Having described the supreme state and that it is granted by Nandhi, Tirumular is eulogizing Nandhi.  He says that he will utter Nandhi’s name incessantly, contemplate on him and raise the light of consciousness within.

உயருணர்வு நிலை எவ்வாறு இருக்கும் என்று கூறி அதை அளிப்பது நந்தி அல்லது பரவுணர்வு என்று காட்டிய பிறகு இப்பாடலில் நந்தியைப் போற்றி வணங்குகிறார்.   நந்தியை இரவும் பகலும் போற்றுவேன் மனத்துள்ள ஞான ஒளியை உயர்த்துவேன் என்று திருமூலர் கூறுகிறார்.
