1.2.28 Let us Praise the Lord

Verse 28

தேவர் பிரான்நம் பிரான் திசை பத்தையும்
மேவு பிரான்விரி நீருல கேழையும்
தாவு பிரான்தன்மை தானறி வாரில்லை
பாவு பிரான்அருள் பாடலு மாமே. 

Translation:

The lord of the Devas, our lord, the lord who pervades

The ten directions, the seven worlds of with water

The lord who goes them, there is no one who knows his nature

The grace of lord who establishes these, should be sung.

Commentary: This verse establishes the supremacy of Siva as the Lord of all sentient beings and non-sentient entities like the worlds and directions.  Tirumular talks about both, his supremacy or paratvam and his easy approachability, saulabhyam when he says Siva is the Lord of the seven worlds, ten directions and the celestials and yet he is our Lord, dear to us.  Even though everything that exists are his forms no one knows his real nature.  Tirumular says that the grace or “arul” of that Lord should be eulogized.

இப்பாடலில் திருமூலர் சிவனின் பரத்துவத்தைத் தெள்ளத் தெளிவாக வலியுறுத்துகிறார்.  இறைவன், தேவர்கள், திசைகள், ஏழுலகு என்று விளங்கும் இவ்வுலகுக்குத் தலைவன். அவன் நமக்கும் தலைவன் என்று கூறுவதன் மூலம் இறைவனின் பரத்துவத்தையும் சௌலப்பியத்தையும் சுட்டிக்காட்டுகிறார்.  இவ்வாறு அனைத்தாகவும் காட்சியளிக்கும் இறைவனின் தன்மையை அறிபவர் யாரும் இல்லை என்கிறார்.  கண்டவர் விண்டிலர் விண்டவர் கண்டிலர் என்பதுபோல இதைப் பற்றிப் பேசக்கூடியவர் யாரும் இல்லை.  இந்தப் பெருமானின் அருளைப் பாடுவோமாக என்கிறார் அவர்.
