1.2.14 Tirumular reiterates with an example

Verse 14

அதிபதி செய்து அளகையர் வேந்தனை
நிதிபதி செய்த நிறைதவம் நோக்கி
அதுபதி யாதரித் தாக்கம தாக்கின்
இதுபதி கொள்ளென்றான் எம்பெரு மானே. 

Translation:

Making him the king of the town of wealth

Seeing the tapas that the lord of wealth (Kubera) performed

Told him to take over the town of wealth

And make it his residence, our lord.

Commentary:  Having explained that all the deities appear as supreme souls only because Siva remains within them and lets them to be so Thirumular points out an example in this verse. It was Siva who gave Kubera, the lord of wealth his position and made him the ruler of Alakapuri.  Similarly he gave superior positions to other deities and made them perform extraordinary actions.

முந்தைய பாடலில் சிவபெருமான் எல்லா தெய்வங்களுக்குள்ளும் நின்று அவர்களைப் பல செயல்களைச் செய்விக்கின்றான் என்று கூறியபிறகு இப்பாடலில் திருமூலர் ஒரு உதாரணத்தைக் காட்டுகிறார்.  குபேரன் செல்வத்துக்கு அதிபதி.  சிவபெருமானே அவனை அளகாபுரி என்னும் நகரத்துக்கு அதிபதியாக்கி அதனை ஆண்டுவா என்று கூறினார் என்கிறார் திருமூலர்.
