1.2.23 Roadmap to reach Siva

Verse 23
சந்தி எனத்தக்க தாமரை வாள்முகத்
தந்தமில் ஈசன் அருள்நமக் கேயென்று
நந்தியை நாளும் வணங்கப் படும்அவர்
புந்தியி னுள்ளே புகுந்துநின் றானே

Translation:
In the effulgent face of the lotus that could be considered as the meeting point, junction,
The grace of the endless Isa is verily for us- saying so,
If Nandi is worshiped,
He entered the buddhi of such souls and stood there.

Commentary: Thirumular is leading us towards Siva, as if he is holding our hands and taking us there. In verse 20 he told us that we should beseech him to reveal himself to us and reaffirm that he is our only relative. Such a Lord who is everything for us is one who is deathless, who does is free from forgetfulness and will never forsake us. So we need not worry whether our effors will go waste. Then one may wonder whether such a great Lord who remains as everything and beyond them will accessible at all. The one is remains as the farthest universe also remains within us in the cakras, associated with Sakthi. Hence, we should not worry whether we can reach him at all.
Now, armed with the knowledge that he is within us we should seek him with the firm conviction that his grace is definitely for us. If we do so the Lord will, on his own, enter our discriminating mind, the buddhi and remain there.

Thus, through the above four verses Tirumular gives us a road map for how to reach Siva.

முந்தைய நான்கு பாடல்களில் திருமூலர் இறைவனை அடைய நம்மைக் கையைப் பிடித்து அழைத்துப்போவதைப் போல அழைத்துச் செல்கிறார். பாடல் 20ல் சிவனின் பாதத்தை அடைய விரும்புபவர் அவனது துதியைப் பாடவேண்டும் “இறைவா! கண்ணுக்குத் தென்படாமல் இருக்கும் நீ நான் பார்க்கும்படி நிற்பாயா? எனக்கு உன்னைவிட்டால் யார் உறவு?” என்று வேண்டிக்கொள்ள வேண்டும் என்றார்.

அவ்வாறு வழிபடப்படும் இறைவன் இறப்பிலி, மறப்பிலி, நம்மைத் துறப்பிலி அதனால் நமது முயற்சிகள் வீணாகிவிடுமோ என்று அஞ்ச வேண்டாம் என்றார்.

உலகம் அனைத்துமாகவும் அவற்றைக் கடந்தும் நிற்கும் சிவனின் பெருமையைக் கண்டு அவனை நாம் அடைய முடியுமா என்று தயங்க வேண்டாம் ஏனெனில் அவ்வாறு பெரியதற்கும் பெரியவன் நம்முள்ளும் தாமரை எனப்படும் சக்கரங்களில் இருக்கிறான். அங்கே அவன் ஜீவனுடனும் சக்தியுடனும் சேர்ந்திருக்கிறான். அதனால் அவன் நம்மைவிட்டு வெகு தூரத்தில் இருக்கிறான் என்று எண்ணவேண்டாம் என்று நம்மை ஆசுவாசப்படுத்தினார். இப்பாடலில் அவர் நாம் ஈசனின் அருள் நமக்கு நிச்சயமாகக் கிடைக்கும் என்ற உறுதியுடன் நந்தி எனப்படும் பரவுணர்வைப் போற்றினால் அவன் நமது புத்தியினுள் தானாகவே வந்து புகுவான் என்று உறுதியளிக்கிறார்.
