1.2.21 Will he die, will he forget me, will he forsake me?
Verse 21
பிறப்பிலி பிஞ்ஞகன் பேரரு ளாளன்
இறப்பிலி யாவர்க்கும் இன்பம் அருளும்
துறப்பிலி தன்னைத் தொழுமின் தொழுதால்
மறப்பிலி மாயா விருத்தமும் ஆமே.

Translation:
The who is birth-less, the destroyer, the one with supreme grace,
The one who is deathless, the one who grants bliss to everyone
The one who does not forsake, worship him
If you do so he will not forget, maya will also terminate.

Commentary: This verse states the benefits of singing Siva’s praise. One need not worry that Siva will cease to exist and one’s efforts will go waste. Siva is eternal. He is also one who never forgets the prayer. He will grant the devotees bliss and an end the influence of maya.

முந்தைய பாடல்களில் சிவனை அடைய விரும்பினால் அவனைப் போற்றவேண்டும் என்று கூறி எவ்வாறு அவனைப் போற்றுவது என்றும் கூறிய திருமூலர் இப்பாடலில் அவ்வாறு போற்றினால் பெறும் நன்மைகளைக் கூறுகிறார். தான் இறைவனைப் போற்றியிருக்கும்போது அவன் இறந்துவிட்டால் என்ன செய்வது? தனது முயற்சிகள் அனைத்தும் வீணாகிவிடுமா என்று ஒருவர் பயப்படவேண்டியதில்லை. இறைவன் இறப்பிலி. தனது முயற்சிகளை அவன் மறந்துவிடுவானா என்றும் ஒருவர் அஞ்சவேண்டியதில்லை ஏனெனில் அவன் மறப்பிலி. தான் அவ்வாறு முயன்றாலும் தன்னை அவன் கைவிட்டுவிடுவானோ என்றும் கவலைப்படவேண்டியதில்லை ஏனெனில் அவன் துறப்பிலி. இத்தகைய இறைவன் பேரருளாளன் மாயையை விலக்கி இன்பம் அருளுபவன் என்கிறார் திருமூலர்.
