1.4.9 Realize "HIM"

Verse 9

அவிழ்க்கின்ற வாறும் அதுகட்டு மாறுஞ்
சிமிழ்த்தலைப் பட்டுயிர் போகின்ற வாறும்
தமிழ்ச்சொல் வடசொல் எனும்இவ் விரண்டும்
உணர்த்தும் அவனை உணரலு மாமே. 

Translation:

The method of loosening, the method of tying

The way in which the life leaves within a blink

Tamil and Sanskrit words, these two

Reveal him, realize him.

Commentary:

This verse may be interpreted from the soul’s point as well as the Divine’s point.

Tirumular says that the agamas explain how souls are tied- in a body, in a life with specific experiences, how they are loosed from these ties and how they leave this life within the blink of the eye.  This is from the soul’s point.  They explain how the Divine ties the souls with their life, body, experiences, how it loosens them and how they are removed from the world.  Realize “him” is applicable to both, the soul as well the Divine.

இப்பாடலை ஜீவனைக் குறித்ததாகவும் ஈஸ்வரனைக் குறித்ததாகவும் விளக்கலாம்.  ஆகமங்கள் எவ்வாறு ஜீவன்கள் ஒரு உடலில், ஒரு வாழ்வில், பல்வேறு அனுபவங்களில் கட்டப்படுகின்றன, எவ்வாறு அவை அந்தக் கட்டிலிருந்து தளர்த்தப்படுகின்றன (ஆன்மீகப் பாதையில் செலுத்தப்படுகின்றன), கண் சிமிட்டும் நேரத்தில் இவ்வுலகை விட்டு வெளியேற்றப்படுகின்றன என்று கூறுகின்றன என்று திருமூலர் கூறுவதாக இப்பாடலுக்குப் பொருள் கூறலாம். ஈஸ்வரனை குறித்ததாகக் கொண்டால் இறைவன் எவ்வாறு உயிர்களை ஒரு வாழ்வில் கட்டி வைக்கிறான், அவற்றைக் கட்டிலிருந்து தளர்த்துகிறான் ஒரு கண்சிமிட்டும் நேரத்தில் அவற்றை உலகிலிருந்து வெளியேற்றுகிறான் என்று ஆகமங்கள் கூறுவதாகப் பொருள் கொள்ளலாம். இவ்வாறு “அவனை” உணருங்கள் என்பது ஜீவனுக்கும் ஈஸ்வரனுக்கும் பொருந்தும்.
