1.2.54 The origin transforms to Brahma and Vishnu

Verse 54

சோதித்த பேரொளி மூன்றைந் தெனநின்ற
ஆதிக்கண் ஆவ தறிகிலர் ஆதர்கள்
நீதிக்கண் ஈசன் நெடுமால் அயன்என்று
பேதித் தவரைப் பிதற்றுகின் றாரே.

The great effulgence that remained as three and five

The Origin, no one knows what happens there

They blabber Brahma and Vishnu

About the one who transformed so.

Commentary:

This verse reiterates that the primary being, the origin of everything, the great effulgence transformed into Brahma and Vishnu.  Without knowing this people prattle that these deities are different.  The second line has an interesting idea.  Tirumular says that while the effulgence transforms into Brahma and Vishnu one does not know how this happens.  All the books and great works talk about these deities, the final states.  No one is able to say how this transformation happens.  They only know the end product not the process of transformation!

பிரம்மா விஷ்ணு என்று உருமாறுவதுஅனைத்துக்கும் ஆதியான சோதியன்றி வேறில்லை.  இதை அறியாத மாந்தர் இத்தெய்வங்கள் வெவ்வேறு என்று பிதற்றுகின்றனர் என்கிறார் திருமூலர்.  இப்பாடலின் இரண்டாம் வரியில் ஒரு முக்கியமான கருத்தை வைத்துள்ளார் திருமூலர்.  ஆதியான ஜோதி இத்தெய்வங்களாக மாறினாலும் அது எவ்வாறு மாறுகிறது என்று ஒருவரும் அறியார்.  இந்தச் செயலின் முடிவை, இந்த நிலைகளைப் பற்றி அனைவரும் பேசுகின்றனர் ஆனால் அந்த உருமாற்றம் எவ்வாறு ஏற்படுகிறது என்பதை அந்த ஆதிதான் அறியும்.
