1.4.8 He blessed the lady with Sanskrit and Tamil

பாடல் எண் : 8

மாரியும் கோடையும் வார்பனி தூங்கநின்
றேரியு நின்றங் கிளைக்கின்ற காலத்து
ஆரிய மும்தமி ழும்உட னேசொலிக்
காரிகை யார்க்குக் கருணைசெய் தானே. 

Translation:

Rain, sun and frost- with them sleeping

And burning, in those times

Uttering Sanskrit (Aryam) and Tamil immediately

For the lady, he blessed so.

Commentary:

Siva agamas are Siva’s teachings to Uma.  Tirumular says that Siva imparted the knowledge of agama in both Tamil and Sanskrit, at all seasons.  With rain, sun and frost sleeping and burning means during rainy season, winter and summer, that is, without any consideration for a particular season.  Siva agama are Siva’s blessing to those who gain knowledge from them.

சிவ ஆகமம் என்பவை சிவன் சக்திக்கு செய்த உபதேசங்கள்.  இவற்றை சிவன் தமிழிலும் ஆரியம் எனப்படும் சமஸ்கிருதத்திலும் அருளினார் என்கிறார் திருமூலர்.  இந்த உபதேசங்கள் காலத்தைக் கருத்தில் கொள்ளாமல், மழைக்காலம், வேனிற்காலம் அல்லது குளிர்காலம் ஏதுவாக இருந்தாலும் சரி, செய்யப்பட்டன என்று அவர் மேலும் கூறுகிறார்.  இந்த ஆகமங்கள் சிவனின் அருள் என்று கூறி இப்பாடலை அவர் முடிக்கிறார்.
