1.2.7 No one knows he is the Lord

Verse 7

கண்ணுத லான்ஒரு காதலின் நிற்கவும்
எண்ணிலி தேவர் இறந்தார் எனப்பலர்
மண்ணுறு வார்களும் வானுறு வார்களும்
அண்ணல் இவன்என் றறியகி லார்களே.

Translation: 

While the one with the eye in the forehead stands

Innumerable Devas died.

Those who perish in the soil and in the sky

Do not know that he is the lord.

Commentary:  Contrary to the theory that everything that exists must perish Siva remains imperishable.  The expression “one with the eye in the forehead” generally refers to Siva.  It also refers to the yogi who has raised his consciousness to the ajna, crossed his dependence on senses for knowledge, has the eye of discrimination, the one with the eye of wisdom.  The deva, celestials and the people on earth refer to the three types of souls- vijnanakala, pralayakala and sakala.  They are souls in various stages of evolution to reach the ultimate Siva state.  Hence, Tirumular says that with them dying, losing their limited state, they are reaching the ultimate state, that of the Lord, the one who is all pervasive.

இருப்பவைப் பெற்றிருப்பவை அனைத்தும் அழிந்துவிடும் என்ற கருத்துக்குப் புறம்பாக எண்ணற்ற உயிர்கள்- தேவர்கள், மனிதர்கள்,வானவர், இறந்தாலும் சிவன் இறப்பதில்லை.  நெற்றியில் கண்ணுள்ளவன் என்பது புறக்கண்ணைக் கடந்து அகக்கண் கொண்டு நோக்குபவன், ஞானக்கண்ணைக் கொண்டவன் சிவன் என்று பொருள்படும்.  இது பொதுவாக சிவபெருமானைக் குறித்தாலும் குண்டலினி யோகத்தின் மூலம் சிவநிலையை அடைந்த யோகியையும் குறிக்கும்.  வானவர், தேவர், மனிதர் என்பவர்கள் விஞ்ஞானகலர், பிரளயாகலர், சகலர் என்று பல்வேறு நிலைகளில் இருக்கும் ஆத்மாக்கள்.  இந்த ஆத்மாக்கள் உச்சநிலையை அடையாதவர்கள்.  அதைக் குறித்துப் பயணிப்பவர்கள்.  அதனால்தான் அவர்கள் இறக்கின்றனர், தமது அளவுக்குட்பட்ட நிலை இறக்க அனைத்துமாக இருக்கும் நிலையை அடைகின்றனர் என்கிறார் திருமூலர்.
