35. Tattva jnana

Verse 35

தத்துவ ஞானம் உரைத்தது தாழ்வரை
முத்திக் கிருந்த முனிவருந் தேவரும்
ஒத்துடன் வேறாய் இருந்து துதிசெயும்
பத்திமை யால்இப் பயன்அறி யாரே. 

Translation:

The tattva jnana was revealed in the mountain shelves

The munivar and deva who waited for mukhti

Remained as different yet equivalent, praising

With devotion. They do not know this benefit.

Commentary:  Tirumular says that the tattva jnana or wisdom about the principles was imparted in the mountain shelf or its foothills.  The mountain mentioned here is Himalayas.  However, the muni and devas who were waiting to attain mukthi worshipped him with devotion by remaining equivalent yet different from him.  They are equivalent as they are also nothing but consciousness.  They are different from him as they perceive themselves as different and distinct from him.  Hence, they did not know the benefit the great state that it can confer.

The Supreme is unlimited consciousness.  So is the Jiva.  However, the jiva perceives itself to be limited and different from the Supreme.  As long as this sense of distinction remains the supreme state, the ultimate benefit, cannot be attained.

சிவபெருமான் மிக உயர்ந்த ஞானமான தத்துவ ஞானத்தை மலையின் தாழ்வரையில் உபதேசித்தார் என்கிறார் திருமூலர்.  இங்கே மலை என்று குறிப்பிடப்படுவது இமயமலையாகும். அவர் உபதேசித்த மிக உயர்ந்த ஞானம் எதுவென்றால் இவ்வுலகும் அதில் இருக்கும் உயிர்களும் உணர்வு அன்றி வேறில்லை.  இறைவன் பரவுணர்வு, ஜீவன் அளவுக்குட்பட்ட உணர்வுநிலை.  இந்த அளவுக்குட்பட்ட நிலை ஜீவன் தன்னை அளவுக்குட்பட்டவன் என்று எண்ணுவதால் ஏற்படுவது.  இவ்வாறு இறைவனும் ஜீவனும் ஒத்தநிலையை, உணர்வாக இருக்கும் நிலையை உடையவர்கள் ஆனால் தான் வேறுபட்டவர்கள் என்று ஜீவன் எண்ணுகிறது. முனிவர்களும் தேவர்களும் இறைவனைத் தன்னைவிட வேறானவன் என்று எண்ணி துதிசெய்தனர்.  அதனால் அவர்கள்  இந்த உயர் ஞானத்தின் பயனை அறியார் என்கிறார் திருமூலர்.
