6. The eight who have received Nandi's grace- experienced supreme consciousness

Verse 6

நந்தி அருள்பெற்ற நாதரை நாடிடின்
நந்திகள் நால்வர் சிவயோக மாமுனி
மன்று தொழுத பதஞ்சலி வியாக்கிரமர்
என்றிவர் என்னோ டெண்மரு மாமே.

Translation:

If the natha who had obtained the grace of Nandi are sought,

The Nandis are four, sivayogi, the great muni

Patanjali the one who worshipped/was worshipped by the arena, Vyagramar

Are the eight along with me.

Commentary: Tirumular is listing the great souls who received the teachings along with him.  They are eight in number- the four Nandis, Sivayogi, Patanjali, Vyagramar and Tirumular.  By placing Patanjali and Vyagramar next to each other Tirumular reminds us of the story where both Patanjali and Vyagrapadar were blessed with witnessing Siva’s dance at Chidambaram- chith amabaram or the arena of chith.

இப்பாடலில் திருமூலர் நந்தியின் அருளைப் பெற்றவர்களைக் கூறுகிறார்.  இது சிவபெருமானின் அருளைப் பெற்றவர்கள் அல்லது பரவுணர்வு நிலையைப் பெற்றவர்கள் என்று பொருள்படும்.  இவ்வாறு நந்தியின் அருளைப் பெற்றவர்கள் நான்கு நாதர்கள், சிவயோகி, பதஞ்சலி, வியாக்ரமர் என்ற எழுவரும் திருமூலரும் ஆவார்கள். பதஞ்சலியையும் வியாக்கிரமரையும் அடுத்தடுத்துச் சொல்வதன்மூலம் திருமூலர் அவர்கள் இருவரும் சித் அம்பரத்தில்- சிதம்பரத்தில், இறைவனின் நடனத்தை ஒன்றாகக் கண்டனர், அதாவது ஒரே சமயத்தில் பரவுணர்வு நிலையை உணர்ந்தனர், என்று நமக்குக் காட்டுகிறார்.  இதனால் இவர்கள் எண்மரும் உச்ச பரவுணர்வு நிலையைப் பெற்றவர்கள் என்பது புரிகிறது.
